Sylviculture

      Biodiversity in Natura 2000 site of North of Western Gorj  is in danger because of the low level of awareness of population and local decision makers and / or domestic, against novelty concept of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development principles.
      Identified problems are multiple and interconnected.

      Experienced logging  has increased in recent years, which reduces areal spreading of species, and also reduces surface damage and natural habitats under protection. On areas occupied by different types of forest, there are most cutting practice.
      Mostly it is not observed the volume of timber which has to be removed under the provisions of forest arrangements. They are not practicing cuts excepting spruce forests, but for other types of forests is possible that if on a certain surface where too much timber is extracted, some plant species that define a particular type of habitat disappears, or picked trees among a specific type of habitat, to be the consequences of this action of diminishing areas of a certain habitat or the alteration of that habitat type to another.
      Exploitation of forests by cutting races or cuts in gill favors natural regeneration and radically changes their structure.
      Artificial planting especially generated species while softwood forests or mixed coniferous changed ecosystem.
      Decreasing surface habitats caused by forest exploitation leads to unfavorable conservation status, directly influenced by some activities which, though traditional, is not always carried out in areas which do not influence or affect species and habitats under no protection. Also timber, mining activities can lead to their fragmentation not necessarily to reduce surface habitats..
      While the current provisions of the forest management instructions are not in full compliance with the conservation objectives and even species, because the area has a new status of protection called Natura 2000.

      NGV ADMINISTRATION , follows:

  • The release of mountain rivers and arboreal wreck alluvial deposits caused by floods and forest vegetation reestablishment of specific banks, to ensure natural habitats and destroyed ecosystems;
  •  Reforestation areas where cuts were made in excess dealing with forest-compliance with the original species;
  • Organizing own nursery where it is produced planting materials of specific species habitats for "North of Western Gorj.

  •   The restoration of ecosystems and natural habitats in alpine areas by cultivating communal Juniperus formations of Pinus mugo and Rhododendron bushes and pastures myrtyfolium on limestone;
  • Proposals for improvements to laws that prohibit to owners of forests in North of Western Gorj site to complete the tree without cutting it to plant earlier and drive up to the age of three copies of 20 saplings for each tree that wishes to be extracted from a natural habitat.
